Yeah so I haven’t blogged since August… I don’t know, I just never think of it and I don’t ever have anything to say. Not that a lot of people are even reading this. But whatever. Rowing has finished, and is now about to start again next Monday. It’s going to be AWFUL. I was actually contemplating not rowing this season but I ended up deciding I am. The first day back we’re gonna have an hour erg piece and a five mile run so I’ve been trying to run five miles everyday. It’s lots of fun. Christmas was ok. I was in a bad mood for most of it… I got some Bose headphones which I’m kind of in love with. I wear them so much they make my hair look funny. So I heard about a Muse concert about a month ago and pretty much got the ok from my parents but I kind of forgot about it. But when I went back to TicketMaster yesterday, I got some weird message that basically said, “We can’t find any tickets for you, but there are still some available”. That doesn’t really make much sense, but I’m still hoping I’ll get some tickets. To make this post actually meaningful about something, I think I’ll say this. All of my life I seem to be looking forward to something, but if I ever actually stop and think about what it might be, I can’t always tell. It’s both depressing and annoying. Hooray. The end.

This may be just me, but it seems like no one in my family appreciates or understands my drumming. And because no one likes it, I can’t say, “check out this new beat I learned”. It just doesn’t mean anything to them. Maybe I should just suck it up but it makes it hard sometimes because for one, I don’t get any approval, and I also can’t really tell how I’m progressing because I’m constantly hearing myself and thinking of myself as no good. That’s mainly just because I’m trying to play stuff that’s beyond me but it’s still annoying. Moving on, it really annoys me how people stick to one or two genres of music and automatically reject all others. Now I used to be like that so I don’t have much room to talk but I’ve expanded my musical tastes lately. And because of that, certain rather close-minded friends of mine just freak out when they hear I’m listening to Lil Wayne, Dave Matthew’s Band, or Fall Out Boy. Speaking of FOB, everyone seems to think they’re no good because they’re on the radio or something. In reality, they’re a very talented band . Patrick Stump has a great voice, and although I don’t know if he writes the lyrics, they are always fun and smart. And their drummer Andy Hurley, while not an incredible drummer, can lay it down when he needs to and is definitely better than a lot of the alternative/pop drummers out there. So far, when I arrive at the end of the three posts I’ve written so far, I can’t really figure out what to do. I’ve avoided a sudden ending this time only because I’m talking about it. I don’t know what I’ll do next time…

rowing is a mental sport

So rowing is indeed a mental sport. I’d say it’s at least 50% mental. Your body can do a LOT more than your mind thinks it can which makes a lot of rowing just telling yourself to keep going. That’s really helped me because it’s carried over to running. I can run farther just because I know I can. It still hurts, but I can do it. I also heard today that you use only 32% of your muscles. Now that’s just annoying. New subject. iTunes just loves giving out free samplers from their Facebook page. I mean I’m fine with it, but I just think it’s sorta weird. I guess I’m done.

first time

Although this is my first post on this blog, I did have another blog at HSB but it wasn’t anything to get excited about. I’m starting this blog mainly because I want to just say stuff, even though I generally detest writing. I’m planning on talking about music and maybe even reviewing some albums as well, but please don’t rely on the “reviews” at all. I have a feeling I won’t be very good at that. As far as life goes, school is starting in about a week but won’t be in full swing till the 31st. I’ve already started math which is (so far) taking a small amount of time to do. Rowing has also started as of Monday so I’m currently sore and dreading what our new head coach is gonna have us do today. He’s hard but it’s a good hard. We are gonna be fast this season.
